Azman Shah Othman Sah Calon
PRM di Permatang Pauh
1)
Parti
Rakyat Malaysia hendak menyatakan bahawa Azman Shah Othman, calon yang
bertanding di Pilihan Raya Kecil (PRK) Permatang Pauh P044 ialah calon PRM yang
direstui oleh Parti Rakyat Malaysia.
2)
Kecalonan Azman Shah Othman dicadangkan dan
disokong PRM Zon Utara.
6)
Gary Nair bukan lagi Ketua PRM negeri Pulau

Permatang Pauh polls: PRM confirms Azman is their candidate
Party secretary-general clarifies
that Azman is contesting in Permatang Pauh parliamentary by-election as
an official PRM candidate.
KUALA LUMPUR: Permatang Pauh’s parliamentary by-election
candidate Azman Shah Othman is Parti Rakyat Malaysia’s (PRM) candidate
after all.
When contacted by Berita Daily today, Azman insisted that he was contesting in the by-election under the order of his party.
Azman made headlines recently after PRM Penang chairman Gary Nair denied Azman’s link with the party, branding him as a joke who dared to use PRM’s banner and party’s name to contest.
Gary even asked the Registrar of Society (RoS) to investigate Azman PRM appointment letter submitted to the Election Commission (EC) on Permatang Pauh by-election nomination day on April 24.
But Azman was unperturbed by Gary's complaints.
“Let him (Gary) say whatever he wants to say, that is his right. PRM central committee is the one calling the shot and I am standing in Permatang Pauh officially as the party’s candidate. I am in the right,” stressed Azman.
He added that more information will be shared with the media in a press conference soon.
Meanwhile, PRM secretary-general Koh Swe Yong also confirmed that Azman was a candidate installed by PRM.
When asked why to PRM Penang has denied the matter, Koh explained that the state’s PRM consisted of old members who were close with Pakatan Rakyat (PR).
“Azman can be considered as a new member. They (Penang PRM) are not aware that the party is expanding.
“Many of our party members think that the only PRM’s members are the old ones. This is where the problem arises,” Koh said.
Koh added that PRM Penang always had different views with the party central committee member.
“Some of these Penang members are very close to PR. Since they are close with PR, they are against the idea of us contesting in this by-election or in fact any elections.
“This (reaction) is expected from Penang PRM,” Koh said.
Koh said PRM was aiming to be the third choice in Permatang Pauh to demonstrate their capability as a political party.
“There are problems brewing in both Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Rakyat (PR) alike. The people want changes and a new hope that they can rely on.
“It is going to be hard (for PRM) in Permatang Pauh, but I think there is a chance,” he said when asked to rate PRM’s chances to win the parliamentary by-election.
Permatang Pauh by-election, set on May 7, will see a four-cornered contest involving PKR’s Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, BN’s Suhaimi Sabudin, independent candidate Salleh Isahak and Azman for PRM.
The EC is expecting a 80% turnout from 71,890 registered voters in the constituency. The result is expected to be known as early as 9pm. - Berita Daily
